How to Manage Your Hytale Worlds
One world is cool. Multiple worlds you can jump between is even better. Hytale Universes let you run several worlds under a single server and move players between them without forcing everyone to disconnect and reconnect. Think hubs, survival worlds, creative spaces, or experimental chaos zones all living under one roof. This guide breaks down how Hytale Universes work and why they are one of the most powerful tools you can use when setting up your server.
Create a New World
Creating a new world adds more space to your universe without wiping progress or starting over. Players can move between worlds freely and keep their items, making it a great way to expand exploration or add new areas without losing anything.
To create a new world alongside your current one, run this command in the console or in-game (operator required):
/world add <worldName>
Replace <worldName> with what you want this new world to be named. This will also be how you teleport to the world. Your world name should not have any spaces or special characters.
Load an Existing World
Have a world you already know and love? Loading an existing world lets you plug it into your universe and treat it like just another destination. Players can move in and out with their inventory intact.
You’ll start by uploading your world to the server.
Navigate to your Nodecraft Dashboard.
Click the Panel button for your Hytale server.
Locate and click Server Files in the menu on the left side.
Navigate to /universe/worlds
Drag your world folder(s) into this folder to upload them.
From there, you’ll need to tell the server to load the world. This is done automatically on restart, but can be done with this command, as well:
/world load <worldName>
Replace <worldName> with the name of the folder you uploaded that contains the world files.
Change the Default World
The default world controls where players first spawn when they join the server. Switching it is an easy way to guide everyone toward a hub, main world, or central starting area.
After creating a new world or loading an existing one, run this command to set it as the default:
/world setdefault <worldName>
Replace <worldName> with the name of the world. Now, when any player joins for the first time, this is the world they’ll join.
Traveling to Your New World
Traveling between worlds lets players move around the universe without disconnecting or losing their items. Jump from one world to another seamlessly, explore new areas, and head back whenever you want. It all feels like one big connected experience rather than separate servers.
In early access, the only way to go between worlds is via command. You would use this command:
/tp world <worldName>
Replace <worldName> with the name of the world you want to teleport to.
Conclusion
Hytale Universes give you room to grow without starting over every time you want something new. You can add worlds, separate playstyles, and move players around without spinning up a whole new server. Once you understand how Universes work, building hubs, event worlds, or side projects becomes way easier and way more flexible. Now go forth and create responsibly. Or don’t. It is your universe.
