How are game recommendations determined?

Nodecraft recommends various plans for different games, based on testing around number of players, resources, and game specific features such as world size.

While we endeavor to keep these recommendations up to date, there may be times where an update to the game, or a specific game configuration results in more or less resources being used. We would recommend reaching out to our support team if you're unsure about which recommendation makes the most sense for your use-case.

Recommendation Types

The following recommendations will be provided for each Game that Nodecraft supports:

Minimum Viable

The Minimum Viable recommendation targets users who want to play games with small friend groups and is okay with minor interruptions due to server restarts, etc. for a lower price.

The server should be able to handle a vanilla setup with minimal users, and small world sizes. Restarts daily or every 12 hours may be required for optimal stability.

Recommended specification:

  • World size: small

  • Player count: 1-4 players

  • Vanilla setup, with no, or very little mods/plugins

Best Value

The Best Value recommendation targets users who want to play games with little to no interruption, and experience the game as generally intended by the game developer.

The server should perform well with the intended world/player size/count, and can support several mods/plugins. No additional restarts are required outside of specific games that might be more performant with restarts, such as Early Access games.

Recommended specification:

  • World size: small to medium

  • Player count: 1-10 players

  • Vanilla setup, with a small selection of mods/plugins without issue

Most Performant

The Most Performant recommendation is for users who wish to max out their experience with as many bells and whistles as possible.

The server should handle any setup (within reason), with heavily modded environments, large worlds, and complex server configurations.

For heavily modded games like Minecraft with a vast array of options, we will do our best to ensure it can handle the heaviest, most resource-hungry kitchen sink type modpacks easily, but cannot guarantee a package that absolutely covers every modpack or custom setup. However, we are working our way towards being able to provide individual recommendations for modpacks and plugins that are available in Nodecraft’s one-click installer.

Recommended specification:

  • World size: large to huge

  • Player count: 10+ players

  • Heavily configured servers, with an abundance of mods/plugins
