How to Join The Forest Server
To join a multiplayer server for The Forest, follow these steps:
Set the Name of Your Server
If you have access to Nodecraftâs Control Panel, follow the Nodecraft Pro steps. If not, skip ahead to the Edit server.cfg File section.
Nodecraft Pro
Click on the âGame Settingsâ tab in the panel while the server is offline.
Locate the Server Name field, provide your desired name for players to find, and click âSubmitâ.

Edit server.cfg File
Locate your serverâs server.cfg file, this will be where your serverâs -configfilepath is set to.
At Nodecraft, you can find this file in the Main Folder of the âServer Filesâ tab.
Select the file and click the âEditâ button.

Find the serverName setting, add your desired server name, and then âSave Changesâ.

Start the Server
From here, be sure to Start your server up, or Restart it if you made any edits while the server was running.
Launch the Game
Start The Forest from your Steam library.
Select Multiplayer
In the main menu, click on the "Multiplayer" option.

Choose Join Game
Select "Join Game."

Browse or Search for your Server
You will be presented with a list of available servers.
Select Dedicated (Internet) on the left-hand side.
You can browse the list or use the search bar to find a specific server by name.

Join the Server
Click on the server you want to join.
New Character
After selecting the server, click "Join" to enter the game.
Resume Character
If youâve previously played on this server and remembered to Save your character progress at a Shelter, click the âContinueâ option to resume playing where youâve left off.
