How to Obtain a Dried Ghast
Dried Ghasts cannot be spawned — they must be crafted or found in the Nether.
Find It in the Nether
Travel to the Soul Sand Valley biome in the Nether.
Search for Nether Fossils (white bone-like structures).
There’s a 33% chance a Dried Ghast block will generate inside one.
Mine it to collect your Dried Ghast.
Crafting Dried Ghast
Gather the following:
8 Ghast Tears (dropped by Ghasts in the Nether)
1 Soul Sand Block (found in Soul Sand Valleys or Nether Fortresses)
On a crafting table, place:
Soul Sand in the center
Surround it with 8 Ghast Tears
This recipe will create 1 Dried Ghast.
How to Evolve a Dried Ghast into a Happy Ghast
Estimated time: ~40 minutes total
Feeding Snowballs can speed up the final growth stage on selected steps.
Step-by-Step Evolution
Place the Dried Ghast in Water
After ~20 minutes, it will begin to rehydrate and transform into a Ghastling.
You'll see 4 visual hydration stages (watch its face for changes).
Wait or Feed Snowballs
Once it becomes a Ghastling, it will naturally grow into a Happy Ghast after another 20 minutes.
Tip: Feeding it Snowballs will speed up this process.
Now you have a Happy Ghast!
How to Craft and Equip a Ghast Harness
Required to ride your Happy Ghast.
