How to Set Your Vintage Story Server to Private

Making your Vintage Story server private is a great way to control who joins your world and avoid unwanted players. Nodecraft gives you two easy options for privacy: setting a password or hiding your server from the public list.

Setting Your Server to Private

  1. Log into your Nodecraft Panel and stop your server before making changes.

  2. Locate the Game Settings tab.

  3. Edit your Password or toggle Advertise Server.

  • Adding a password will ensure no one can connect via IP or from the public server list without entering that password.

  • Toggling Advertise Server off will remove the server from being displayed on the public server list. If the slider is gray, then the setting is disabled.

4. Select Submit.

  • Share the server IP, port, and password directly with trusted players if it’s hidden.

  • Make sure players know how to direct connect when the server is private.
