What are Hytale Memories?
The Memories system in Hytale is an early-game progression feature that unlocks new items, tools, and conveniences as you play. It doesn’t make your character stronger in combat, but it does unlock features that make exploring, building, and managing your world a lot easier.
In this guide, we’ll explain what the Hytale Memories system is, how to unlock it, how Memories are collected, and what you actually get for turning them in.
How to Unlock the Memories System
To activate the Memories system, exit the blue portal and walk straight forward into the main courtyard of the temple. In the center, you’ll find a statue, The Heart of Orbis. Interact with the statue to activate the Memories system.

It’s important to do this as soon as possible, as the Memories system is not retroactive, which means anything you’ve discovered or interacted with before activating it will not count toward Memories progress.
How to Collect Memories
Once Memories are unlocked, you’ll start collecting them naturally as you play. When you trigger a new Memory, you’ll see a small blue orb fly out of the entity or object and move toward your character. That visual effect lets you know a Memory has been collected.

Turning in Memories at the Forgotten Temple
Periodically, you’ll want to return to the Forgotten Temple to turn in your collected memories. Return to the Forgotten Temple and interact with The Heart of Orbis again to turn them in. Turning in Memories here unlocks new rewards and features over time.

Memory Rewards and Unlocks
As you restore more Memories, you’ll unlock things like:
Decorative storage chests
Eternal seeds for farming
Additional teleporters
Morph potions
Backpack upgrades
In total, there are currently 240 memories to collect, and you’ll earn rewards at different milestones.
| Memories Restored | Rewards |
|---|---|
| 10 | Three new decorative chests (Furniture Workbench) Two eternal seeds (Farmer’s Workbench) |
| 25 | Three decorative chests (Furniture Workbench) Four eternal seeds (Farmer’s Workbench) An additional teleporter |
| 50 | Morph potions (Alchemist’s Workbench) Three decorative chests (Furniture Workbench) Four eternal seeds (Farmer’s Workbench) An additional teleporter |
| 100 | Ancient Gateway and Portal Fragments (Arcanist’s Workbench) Backpack upgrade II (Workbench) Three decorative chests (Furniture Workbench) Two eternal seeds (Farmer’s Workbench) Two additional teleporters |
| 200 | Harvest trophy (Farmer’s Workbench) Two decorative chests (Furniture Workbench) Two eternal seeds (Farmer’s Workbench) Two additional teleporters |
Conclusion
The Memories system doesn’t need grinding, spreadsheets, or constant check-ins. Unlock it, play the game, and let it quietly keep score in the background. When a little blue orb flies at you, that’s the game’s way of saying, “Yep, that counted.”
Swing by the Forgotten Temple every so often, turn your Memories in, and enjoy the new unlocks. They won’t turn you into a combat legend, but they will make everything else easier, which is honestly the better deal.
