How to Keep Animals from Escaping Fences
Keeping animals contained in Hytale is trickier than it looks. If you have tried surrounding a pen with regular fences and still found your animals wandering off, you did not do anything wrong. Fences alone do not fully contain animals in Hytale.
To properly secure animals, you need to add an extra layer of height or switch to solid blocks. Here is what actually works.
Build a 2-Block-High Solid Wall (Most Reliable)
The safest way to keep animals contained is to use solid blocks instead of fences.

Build a wall that is two full blocks high.
Any solid block works, including stone, wood, dirt, or bricks.
This completely blocks animal movement and pathing.
This method is the most reliable and works for every animal type.
Add Half Slabs on Top of Fences
If you prefer the look of fences, you can still use them with one extra step.

Place regular fences as normal.
Add half slabs on top of the fence line.
This adds just enough height to prevent animals from escaping.
This keeps the open, farm-style look while actually doing its job of keeping the animals contained.
Conclusion
If your animals keep breaking free, it is not a bug. It is just how enclosure height works in Hytale. Use solid two-block walls for maximum security or top your fences with half slabs if you want a cleaner look. Either option will keep your animals exactly where you want them and save you from chasing them across the map later.
