If you’ve been working on a world in singleplayer and don’t want to start over on your Hytale server, good news. You do not have to. Uploading a singleplayer world lets you keep everything you have built and continue playing with friends instead of rebuilding it all from scratch.

This guide walks through how to upload a singleplayer world to your Hytale server so you can pick up right where you left off.

Getting Your Singleplayer Files

The files for your singleplayer worlds can be opened from within Hytale itself.

  1. Open Hytale.

  2. Click Worlds.

  3. Right-click the world you want to upload to your server and choose Open Folder.

  4. Navigate to /universe/worlds

  5. Inside this folder you will find folders for each of the worlds in that universe. These are the folders you’ll upload to your server.

Uploading the Files Using the Control Panel

  1. Navigate to your Nodecraft Dashboard.

  2. Click the Panel button for your Hytale server.

  3. Locate and click Server Files in the menu on the left side.

  4. Navigate to /universe/worlds

  5. Drag your world folder(s) into this folder to upload them.

Set the Default World

If you want players to join this world when they first join, you will need to set the world as the default world.

Using the Control Panel

  1. Stop your server.

  2. Locate and click Game Settings in the menu on the left side of your server panel.

  3. Click the World tab.

  4. Hover over the world you’d like to load and click Set Default.

  5. Start your server.

Using In-Game/Console Commands

  1. Locate and click Console in the menu on the left side of your server panel.

  2. Type /world load <worldname> replacing <worldname> with the name of the folder that you uploaded. This will load the world into memory and make it accessible on the server.

  3. Type /world setdefault <worldname> again replacing <worldname> with the name of the folder that you uploaded. This will set the world as the default on the server. Now when new players join, they will go to this world automatically.

  4. These commands can also be run in-game by any player with OP status.

To join the newly uploaded world after you’ve already joined the server, type /tp world <worldname> replacing <worldname> with the name of the world you’d like to go to.

Conclusion

You have now successfully uploaded your singleplayer world to your Hytale server. Once the upload is complete, the server will load that world the next time it starts.

If you need to make changes later, you can replace the world files at any time by uploading a new version and restarting the server. This makes it easy to keep building in singleplayer and move updated versions of the world back onto your server whenever you want.
