Switching Palworld Server Platforms (Xbox ↔ Steam)

Palworld, in its endeavor to offer an immersive gaming experience, has provided shared, dedicated server files for both Steam and Xbox platforms. This empowers the users to switch between the two platforms seamlessly. The process is simplified and efficient, especially with the game settings tab on our panel.

There are a few simple steps to switch platforms via the Game Settings tab.

  1. The first step is to start your server once to generate the files needed, then shut it down. This is a crucial step as it ensures you can modify the settings and not have the server override them.

  2. Once the server is shut down, navigate to the Game Settings tab for your Palworld instance.

  3. Within the Game Settings tab, locate the Which platform players can connect from dropdown. Depending on your preference or requirements, this setting allows you to choose between Steam and Xbox.

  4. After selecting the desired platform, save the settings. The save option is located in the bottom right corner of the panel.

  5. With the saved settings, you can start the server back up, and it will be aligned with the chosen platform.

Switching via Config File (Manually)

If you prefer to switch platforms manually via the Config File, the process is slightly more involved and shouldn’t be needed, but it still should be straightforward.

  1. As with the previous method, the first step is to start your server once to generate the files needed, then shut it down. This is a crucial step as it ensures that the settings can be modified and not overridden.

  2. Once the server is shut down, navigate to the File Manager tab for your Palworld instance. Within the File Manager, you must go to the file: /Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini.
Shows the File Manager in the LinuxServer folder with highlighted blocks around the file path, Edit button, and PalWorldSettings.ini

  3. Now, edit the file PalWorldSettings.ini; you will find the AllowConnectPlatform setting. This must be set to Steam or Xbox, based on your preference.Shows the PalWorldSetting.ini contents with a highlight block around AllowConnectPlatform

  4. Once the desired platform is set, save the file. The save option is located in the top right corner.

  5. With the file saved, you can start the server back up, which is now set to your chosen platform.

By following these instructions, you can easily switch between the Steam and Xbox platforms on your Palworld server, allowing you to customize your gaming experience based on your needs and preferences.
