Uploading an Existing World to Your Satisfactory Server
This guide will walk you through the process of uploading your save file to your dedicated server.
These instructions are based on those provided by Coffee Stain Studios, this is a temporary/manual method while they are still developing a "Manage Saves" feature.
Locate the Save file on Your PC
Something to keep in mind that is very critical throughout this guide: The Session Name and the Save File name are not the same thing. The Session Name is embedded inside the Save File, and cannot be changed without using a save editor. The Save File is the name that ends in .sav
.
Find the desired save file you'd like to use by the Session Name in the Load tab in the main menu in your Satisfactory Game. In the examples and screenshots below, the Session Name will be Nodecraft Server Upload
, the Save File will be Nodecraft World
/Nodecraft World.sav
.
Locate your save file in C:\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\(Steam or Epic ID)
if you're using Windows on your PC.
Upload the Save File to Your Server
Next, upload the save file to your server into /.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server
in the File Manager of your NodePanel. These folders won't exist till the server has been started up at least once. If you've never created a world before on the server, you might need to create the /server
folder before you can upload your file.
You can drag and drop the file directly into this location in NodePanel, but if your save file is large, we recommend using FTP to upload.
Other Platforms and OS
For finding your save files and where to upload them, we recommend looking at the documentation provided by Coffee Stain Studio: https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Dedicated_servers
Testing Your Work
Now let's test to make sure everything is working as it should! If you haven't done so already, add your server to the menu and claim it. You can find some guides for this linked in the "related articles" section below.
Start your server up, and go to the Server Manager - Server Settings tab in the main menu of your game. Enter the Session Name of the world you uploaded into the server settings tab in Server Manager, then press Enter. The server should initiate a search for the save file with the matching Session Name. In this case it will be Nodecraft Server Upload.
Then you can join through the normal method in the Server Manager - Server Name - Status tab in the in-game main menu.
