How to Add Mods to The Forest
The Forest mods enhance the game by providing quality-of-life improvements and new gameplay features, such as larger backpack space, infinite zip lines, or player upgrade points. These mods can remove much of the hassle found in the base game. Mods are primarily installed client-side and are generally compatible with servers, it's important to check each server’s rules about mods before joining. VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) is not enabled by default, but server owners can activate it, so check if your mods are permitted.
Most mods for The Forest must be installed locally. For a consistent experience, ensure all players on a server have the same mods installed.

Mod Compatibility
Mods installed locally work on any server, but mods cannot be installed server-side. Mods that add items or change the world state (e.g., Longer Day & Night) typically cannot be used. However, mods like Map and Ultimate Cheatmenu are fully compatible with servers as they only affect the local client.
