How to Update Your Factorio Server
Keeping your Factorio server updated ensures access to the latest features, stability improvements, and essential security patches. his guide will take you through the steps of updating your Factorio server, from preparing for the update to preserving your saved game files and configuring the settings for a smooth upgrade.
Pro Tip: Before updating, create a backup of your server in the “Backups” tab of the Nodecraft Pro Panel. This way, you can restore your server if anything goes wrong.
Update Your Server Version
Note: We recommend fully stopping your game server before making any edits or configuration changes.
Log into the Nodecraft Pro Panel for your game server.
Navigate to the One-Click Installer on the left-hand side.
Select Change Version.
Choose the release version that you want to install. Typically, the latest stable release is recommended.
Use the Archive Install option to back up previous files and saves.
Restore Your Saved Game (Optional)
If you want to keep your previous world and settings, follow these steps:
Once the installation is complete, go to the Server Files tab.
Locate the
_old_files
folder. This folder contains pre-update backups.Open the
_old_files
folder and select the most recent folder within it. This should contain your previous world data.Locate the
worlds
folder and select it.Select Move and move the
worlds
folder back to the Main Folder within the game files.Confirm that the
worlds
folder is now in the Main Folder.
Starting The Server
In the Game Settings tab, locate World Settings.
Confirm the world name matches the
.zip
file in theworlds
folder.Set Server Start Mode to Run World When Server Starts to automatically load your saved world.
Note: If you encounter issues with loading your save, verify that the world file name precisely matches the configuration.
