In this guide we will cover all the gamemodes that will be available in Hytale for early access (EA). Later releases there will actually be some changes and differences in the game modes. For its EA launch Creative and Exploration mode will be available, but they are also working on an Adventure/Story mode and a minigame mode.

Creative Mode

With Creative mode in Hytale, it's not just for having invincibility or the ability to just move around more freely in the procedurally generated world, it's a full suite of tools such as for world editing which includes selection tools (copy/paste), scripted brushes, shape brushes, and a ruler/laser pointer to ensure your builds are as exactly as your envision them to be. Additional tools include NPC/Player model customization tools and even a tool referred to as “Machinima” which will allow you to turn your creations into actual animations.

Adventure Mode

Adventure mode is the primary Hytale experience. It’s a sandbox RPG story mode where you can explore unique, procedurally generated worlds filled with ruins, landmarks, and random events. You can choose your own path whether you want to be a settler building a homestead, a master craftsperson, or a bold adventurer. This mode is coming but will not be part of the EA launch.

Exploration Mode

While Adventure mode will not be available at the EA launch of the game, Exploration mode will be. This version will allow you to still encounter unique zone-specific foes, ruins, landmarks, random events and survive the wilderness by farming and crafting while the team continues to build out the full story mode.

Minigames

The tools for creating competitive minigames in Hytale will not be part of the initial EA launch. However, the developers are still developing them for minigame creators and designing a central hub called The Capital. Eventually, this social world will serve as the hub for players to queue for competitive matches.
