Updating Your MOTD

The MOTD on a Minecraft server is a public, short message that appears in the Minecraft client when users are attempting to join the server. It's generally a good idea that this includes your server name, so users are sure they are connecting to the right location.

Updating the MOTD

The quickest way to update your server's MOTD is via the NodePanel. From within the NodePanel, access the "Game Settings" section, and then head to the "Basic Settings" tab. On this tab, you will find a textbox noted as "MOTD", which will allow you to enter and customize the MOTD to your liking.

Alternatively, you can edit the server.properties file directly, either via the File Manager within the NodePanel, or by using your favorite FTP client. The applicable setting within this file is simply motd.
