Converting Java and Bedrock Worlds
Looking to convert your world from one version of Minecraft to another? This guide will go through how to use Chunker to convert your worlds.
Note About the World Conversion Process
While it is possible to convert your world from Java to Bedrock and from Bedrock to Java, it is not a perfect conversion. There are differences in how the game is coded on both platforms such as Java Edition having NBT data whereas Bedrock does not, Redstone working differently in the two versions, etc. With all of that in mind, be sure to create a backup of your world prior to starting this process.
Converting Java to Bedrock
Go to https://chunker.app/
Create a zip of your world folder. (optional, but preferred)
If zipping a world in Nodepanel, check the box next to the folder then click create zip.
Upload the world folder or zip file to Chunker.
Click ‘Start Upload’.
Choose a version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition to export the world to.
Click ‘Convert & Download’.
Click ‘Download’ to download the world to your computer.
If you are uploading this to a dedicated server, you’ll need to extract the .mcworld file prior to uploading.
For further instructions regarding adding the world to your server, check out our article on Uploading an existing world to your Minecraft: Bedrock Edition server.
