What Does a Maypole Do in Valheim?
A maypole is a decorative structure that adds 1 comfort when you are close enough to benefit from it. Naturally generated maypoles and ones built by players provide the same bonus, so you do not need to find a rare village version if you can build your own during Midsummer.

Place it near the area where you normally rest, then check your comfort level from that spot. A maypole at the far end of the settlement may look lovely, but it will not help if you are resting too far away. It does not take rain damage, which makes it suitable for an outdoor courtyard or gathering area.
Where to Find a Maypole
Maypoles can appear in the middle of abandoned villages in the Meadows biome. They are rare, so finding a village does not guarantee that it contains one. Explore other Meadows areas if the settlements near your starting point do not have a maypole.
Natural maypoles are placed when the world generates. A world can contain one or more, but they do not respawn after being destroyed. Mark the location when you find one, and consider building a small resting spot nearby if you want to use its comfort bonus.
Finding an existing maypole is useful outside the building season. The seasonal restriction affects when you can craft one, not whether an existing maypole continues to work.
When Can You Build a Maypole?
Maypoles can be built during Valheim's Midsummer event, which runs from June 1 through July 6. The Midsummer crown is also available during this period. These are seasonal event dates, rather than a season you reach by advancing days in your world. Outside the event, the Maypole recipe is unavailable in the standard building menu.
A maypole you build during Midsummer stays in the world after the season ends and keeps providing its comfort bonus. You do not need to rebuild it every summer. If you remove it after the building window closes, however, you will need to wait until it becomes buildable again to replace it through normal gameplay.

During the Midsummer building window, collect the required materials and bring them to your base.
Equip your hammer and stand within range of a workbench.

Choose a position near your resting area, then place it.
Return to the spot where you normally rest and check that the maypole contributes to your comfort level.
Why Is the Maypole Missing from the Build Menu?
Check the season first. Having all the materials does not make the recipe available year-round. If you are playing outside the Midsummer window, look for a naturally generated maypole in a Meadows village or wait for the next building season.
If you are playing during the expected window, make sure your game and server are updated. Check Valheim's current announcements if the seasonal option still does not appear.
Can You Move or Replace a Maypole?
Plan its position before placing it, especially near the end of Midsummer. Destroying a natural maypole does not cause it to respawn, and removing a player-built one does not bypass the seasonal crafting restriction. If you want to redesign the area outside the season, keeping the maypole in place avoids losing access to it.
