Palworld Map Guide: All Regions and Major Locations
Palworld’s map has grown considerably since launch. In addition to the original Palpagos Islands, players can now explore Feybreak, Sunreach, and the World Tree area.
This guide covers the major regions of the Palworld map, how to reveal unexplored areas, and what to expect as you travel between each biome.
How the Palworld Map Works
The map displays discovered terrain, fast travel points, settlements, towers, bases, and any custom markers you place. New portions of the map remain hidden until you explore them or activate a nearby Watchtower.
Most locations are shown on the Palpagos Islands Map, while the World Tree uses a separate map that you can switch to from the map screen.
How to Reveal More of the Map
Watchtowers reveal large portions of the surrounding map and become fast travel points once activated.
The activation point is located at the top of the Watchtower. Before activation, the device glows red.
After it has been activated, the device changes to a blue glow and can be used as a fast travel destination.
You do not need a flying Pal to reach the top. A wind updraft near the bottom of each Watchtower can carry you upward.
Activating Watchtowers as you enter a new region makes exploration much easier and gives you a convenient route back if the local Pals immediately convince you to leave.

The Palpagos Islands contain the game’s starting regions, forests, mountains, deserts, volcanic areas, Sakurajima, and several smaller islands.
The farther you travel from the central islands, the harsher the environments and local enemies generally become. Preparing temperature-resistant equipment before entering the desert, snowy mountains, or volcanic regions can save you an unpleasant trip back to your dropped items.
Major Palworld Regions
Starting Area and Central Green Islands
The central green islands are where most players begin their journey. These regions have mild weather, lower-level Pals, early resources, and plenty of space for a first base.
The roads, rivers, beaches, and grassy plateaus also make these islands easier to explore without advanced equipment or a high-level flying mount.
Astral Mountains
The Astral Mountains are dominated by snow, steep cliffs, and freezing temperatures.
Cold-resistant equipment is important when exploring this region. The difficult terrain also makes a flying mount especially useful, although Watchtowers and fast travel points can help reduce the amount of climbing required.
Desiccated Desert
The Desiccated Desert is a large, open region filled with sand, cliffs, and very little shade.
Heat protection is recommended during the day. The wide terrain can make landmarks appear closer than they actually are, so unlocking nearby fast travel points before exploring deeper into the desert is helpful.
Mount Obsidian
Mount Obsidian is the volcanic region located in the southwestern portion of the main map.
Lava, dark rock, and extreme heat define the area. Bring heat-resistant equipment and watch where you land, because some surfaces are considerably less friendly than others.
Sakurajima
Sakurajima is easily recognized by its cherry blossom forests and bright pink landscape.
The island provides a strong visual contrast to the darker volcanic region nearby and contains more advanced enemies and resources than the original starting islands.
Feybreak
Feybreak is a large late-game region with several distinct biomes, including frozen terrain, red forests, rocky areas, and darker interior zones.
Its layered cliffs and divided terrain can make navigation difficult from the ground. Unlocking its Watchtowers and fast travel locations early will make later trips much easier.
Sunreach
Sunreach is located away from the central Palpagos Islands and contains a collection of separated landmasses.
The unusual layout makes a flying Pal especially valuable. Several portions of the region are separated by open water, cliffs, or large gaps that are difficult to cross on foot.
The World Tree
The World Tree area uses a separate map that can be opened from the main map screen.
This region contains several connected landmasses and distinct biomes surrounding the World Tree. Because it appears on a separate map, it can seem smaller at first glance than it actually is.
Important Locations to Find on the Map
As you explore, keep an eye out for:
Watchtowers that reveal terrain and unlock fast travel
Fast travel points that make returning to distant regions easier
Settlements containing merchants and other services
Tower entrances used for major boss battles
Dungeons containing enemies, resources, and rewards
Resource-rich areas that may be useful for future bases
Custom map markers for locations you want to revisit
Custom markers are particularly helpful when you find a promising base location, resource deposit, dungeon entrance, or Alpha Pal that you are absolutely going to come back for once it stops being stronger than your entire team.
Recommended Palworld Map Progression
Palworld does not require you to explore its regions in one exact order, but this general route provides a smoother difficulty curve:
Explore the Starting Area and Central Green Islands
Expand into the surrounding forests, mountains, and smaller islands
Prepare temperature-resistant equipment for the Astral Mountains, Desiccated Desert, and Mount Obsidian
Continue to Sakurajima
Explore Feybreak
Travel to Sunreach
Enter The World Tree area
You can visit many of these regions earlier, but stronger equipment, upgraded Pals, and a reliable flying mount will make the trip much less painful.
Final Thoughts
The Palworld map now includes far more than the original central islands. Each major region introduces different terrain, environmental hazards, Pals, resources, and reasons to return.
Activating Watchtowers should be one of your first priorities whenever you reach a new area. Revealing the map and unlocking fast travel makes exploration easier, especially when Palworld’s geography decides that the location directly in front of you should require a twenty-minute detour around a cliff.
