How to Download Your Minecraft Server World
Want to save a copy of your Minecraft world? Excellent call. Downloading your world gives you a backup you can keep on your computer, move to another server, load in single-player, or tuck away for safekeeping before someone says, “I’m just testing TNT really quick.”
In this guide, we’ll show you how to download your Minecraft world from your Nodecraft server using the File Manager or the Backups page.
Before You Download Your World
Before downloading your Minecraft world, we recommend stopping your server.
Minecraft worlds are made up of many files that can change while the server is running. Stopping the server first helps make sure your download includes a clean copy of the world.
Open your Nodecraft server panel.
Click Stop in the left sidebar.
Wait for the server to fully stop.
Method 1: Download Your World from File Manager
The File Manager lets you access your server files directly from the Nodecraft panel.
In the left sidebar, click Server Files.
Click Files.
Find your world folder.
For most Minecraft servers, the main world folder is named world.
Check Your World Folder Name
Most vanilla Minecraft servers use world as the default world folder name, but your server may use a different name.
To check the active world name:
Open Server Files.
Click Files.
Open server.properties
Look for this setting: level-name=world
Note: The name after level-name= is the main world folder your server is using. For example, if your file says: level-name=survival, then your world folder is named survival.
Download the World Folder
Once you find the correct world folder, download it from the File Manager.
Select the checkbox next to the world folder.
Open the file options menu if needed.
Choose the download option.
Save the file to your computer.
If the panel asks you to archive or compress the folder first, create a .zip file and download that.
Minecraft worlds can get pretty chunky, especially if players love exploring in straight lines for 40,000 blocks. If the download takes a bit, that’s normal.
Do I Need the Nether and End Too?
For vanilla Minecraft Java servers, the Nether and End are usually stored inside the main world folder.
You may see folders inside your world folder like: DIM-1, DIM1
These store the Nether and End dimensions.
Some server types, especially plugin-based servers, may split dimensions into separate folders, such as: world, world_nether, world_the_end.
If you see separate Nether or End folders in your main server directory, download those too if you want the full world.
Method 2: Download a Backup
You can also download your server world by creating and downloading a backup. This is a great option if you want a full server copy instead of only the world folder.
In the left sidebar, click Backups.
Click Create Backup.
Wait for the backup to finish.
Click the three-dot menu next to the backup.
Click Download.
This method is especially helpful if you want to save more than just the world. A backup can include your server files, settings, and other important data.
