This month we are giving a spotlight to our partner: FTLAK! Hailing from the frozen north but keeping their community toasty with good vibes. FTLAK is an expert when it comes to survival games with their content focusing around the game “Don’t starve together”, streaming it on Twitch and posting tutorials/tip videos to Youtube. We got a chance to catch up and talk to FTLAK about their journey and what they enjoy the most about being a creator. Here are some highlights from that conversation:
What are you most excited about in the next Don’t Starve update?
Excited about the new year and updates for Don’t Starve Together. Personal updates, excited for the snow to be gone.
Where did your gamertag come from?
FTLAK – For the Love Alaska, I live in Alaska and a buddy Scotty, who pasted away almost 20 years ago use to write FTL on everything, For the love, It was available years ago and I took it and it has stuck.
What's your go-to game when you're not streaming?
Wait I can play other games? I play Don’t Starve Together on and off stream, walk on my treadmill to some Battlefield 5.
What's your favorite game to stream?
Don’t Starve Together – On my Nodecraft sever makes all the world of difference!!!
How long have you been creating content?
Photography since I was 12, still not good. Streaming started August 30th 2020, I am an extrovert and needed to talk to strangers during Covid.
What's your most played game, and how many hours do you have logged?
Don’t Starve Together, on PS4/5, Steam, Xbox, IOS I have close to 4000 hours.
What do you enjoy outside of gaming?
Photography, geocaching, American Sign Language
What is your favorite mod for a game?
Geometric Placement, things need to look nice.
Is there a game you're really looking forward to coming out soon?
Rotwood, Dune Awakening and Starfield
What was the very first game you ever played?
Hard to say but In Arcade Golden Ax, Nintendo was Mario Brothers, Atari, yea I am old, was Missile Command.
Best console from your childhood?
Nintendo.
Are there any creators that have inspired you along your content journey?
Nandagos his positivity and overall cheerfulness is enough to brighten anyone’s day. Then djKENTO who convinced me to start streaming years after he 1st recommended it.

Don’t Starve Together on my PS4
What caused you to want to stream?
Covid made me lonely at home as an extrovert. I wanted to meet and chat with people all over the world.
Do you get nervous when you go live?
Always, but the 1st step is to do it. You may not like me but my group of weirdos will find me.
What is a unique part of your routine before going live/creating a video?
Hand warm ups, I fingerspell each followers name when they drop that follow. FOLLOWS ARE FREE! Also kiss my wife and tell her I love her for supporting me.
What is your most memorable gaming experience?
I remember bringing my PC to my friend's house to set up local lan parties to play Command and Conquer and the original Battlefield 1942. Late nights drinking energy drinks and eating junk food. Also, ordering pizza we would eat for days.
