The latest update to Minecraft: 1.21.4: The Garden Awakens, brings an exciting blend of spooky ambiance, new decorations, and a downright terrifying mob. Time to dust off your Minecraft account and invite some friends to dive back into this Minecraft update.
The biggest change in this update is the Pale Garden Biome, which is home to the mysterious new mob: the Creaking. But exploring this zone is well worth it if you want to get ahold of brand new resources like tree resin. And if eerie silence doesn't bother you too much, it's not even too bad... until nighttime. This biome becomes a dangerous place to go alone as the Creaking now is absolutely not okay with you being here, anymore. Grab some friends, spawn a Minecraft game server and experience the update together.
Step Into the Pale Garden Biome: Beauty by Day, Terror by Night
The Pale Garden Biome is a unique addition to Minecraft's biomes. Unlike the other forests, it has strikingly muted colors, is completely silent, and is devoid of all mobs except for the Creaking. You'll also find strange new plants like the Eyeblossom and even the sky matches the muted colors of the forest.
But the real horror happens at night. The peaceful ambiance immediately shifts to a spooky forest that makes you feel like you're not welcome. From the spine-chilling sounds coming from the trees to new mob that dominates the space, you'll need help if you want to avoid running home. The Creaking, a nightmarish creature will follow you until you leave.
The Creaking
Meet the Creaking, a mob made entirely of tree branches that spawns within the Pale Garden biome. It chases you when you're not looking, but freezes in place like a sinister statue the moment you look at it. A mob that doesn't run when you look at it sounds easy to beat, but couldn't be further from the truth. The Creaking can't be damaged by any weapons, fire, or other combat mechanics in the game. You have to finding and break the Creaking Heart to defeat it.
To beat a Creaking you have to look for the orange particles emitted from the mob itself as it leads to the Creaking Heart. a new block added to the Pale Oak Trees that spawn in the Pale Garden biome. It's tricky, but once you cut the blocks of the tree you will uncover the Creaking Heart. Break the Creaking Heart and the mob it's bound to will immediately be defeated and disappear.
Resin: A Orange New Decoration Material
You may have noticed that the Creaking Heart had a ton of orange textures on the Pale Oak Wood blocks. That is Resin and can be harvested for a surprisingly long list of uses. The best way to get Resin is to right click to harvest this precious new material before chopping any Pale Oak tree down. It's much easier to find at night as it's glowing, but you have to contend with a Creaking as well. Tag team this with friends to make this process faster and safer.
Once harvested the Resin can be used for a wide variety of uses:
Decorative Orange Blocks: Smelting resin into Resin Bricks unlocks a new decorative orange block that can be chiseled or make into slabs like any other block.
Custom Armor: Resin can also be used to decorate your armor with it's brilliant orange designs.
Dubious Toxic Affects: Giving resin to bees or combining it with food can have ... dubious effects.
