Minecraft Item ID List and /give Command Generator
- Minecraft Tools
- Item IDs
Search every item and block in Minecraft: Java Edition, from 1.0 through to 26.2. Copy the ID, or build a /give command that uses the right syntax for the version you are running. Older versions get numeric IDs and the correct target selector, because minecraft:diamond_sword and @s did not exist yet.

Command syntax for Minecraft 1.1
- Minecraft 1.1 had no in-game commands. /give only ran from a multiplayer server console, and only with numeric IDs.
- Item names like minecraft:diamond_sword were not accepted until 1.7.2, so this version needs the numeric ID.
- Target selectors (@p, @a, @r) arrived in 1.4.4. Type a player name instead.

What is a Minecraft item ID?
Every item and block in Minecraft has an internal identifier the game uses in commands, data packs and save files. Modern versions use a namespaced name such as
minecraft:diamond_sword. Versions before 1.7.2 used a number instead, like276. -
What is the difference between item IDs, legacy IDs and data values?
There are three formats. The namespaced ID
minecraft:oak_planks) is what every version from 1.7.2 onward uses. The numeric ID5) is what 1.6.4 and earlier used. Data values are the number after a colon5:1) that separated variants of the same block before the 1.13 flattening, when every variant became its own ID. -
How do I use an item ID in the /give command?
On 1.13 and later the syntax is
/give <target> <item> [count], so/give @s minecraft:diamond_sword 1. Pick an item above and the command is built for you, including the count and any data value the version needs. -
Why does the command change when I pick an older version?
Because the syntax genuinely changed several times. Item names arrived in 1.7.2,
@pand the other target selectors in 1.4.4,@sin 1.12, and commands were not available in single player at all until 1.3.1. Choosing 1.0 gives you the numeric ID and a player name, because that is the only form the game would have accepted. -
Do numeric item IDs still work?
Not in commands. Numeric IDs were deprecated in 1.7 and removed entirely in the 1.13 flattening. They are still useful for reading old worlds, following pre-1.13 guides and working with older modpacks, which is why they are listed here.
-
Does this cover modded items or Bedrock Edition?
No, this list is vanilla Java Edition. Mods register their own IDs under their own namespace, such as
create:cogwheel, and Bedrock uses a separate set of identifiers. -
How do I run these commands on my server?
You need operator permissions, and cheats enabled if you are in single player. On a Nodecraft server you can run the command from the console or in game once you have opped yourself.
Make yourself OP, give yourself a full set of diamond and more with your own Minecraft server, from one easy-to-use control panel.
