Minecraft Region File Editor and Chunk Viewer

Explore your Minecraft world one chunk at a time.

Drop in a single region file, a region folder, or an entire Java Edition world. Browse its chunks on a map, inspect terrain in 2D or 3D, edit the underlying NBT data, remove broken chunks, and download your changes.

Your world stays on your device. Files are read and edited locally in your browser—they are never uploaded to Nodecraft.

More than a region file viewer

The workbench understands how a real Minecraft save is organised. Open overworld, Nether, End, and modded dimensions; switch between terrain, entity, and point-of-interest regions; inspect level.dat; and use player positions to find the part of a large world you care about.

Changes are staged until you download them, so you can review or undo individual chunk edits before replacing anything in your world.

F.A.Q.

  • What is a Minecraft region file?

A region file is an Anvil .mca file containing up to 1,024 chunks in a 32×32 grid. Minecraft stores overworld terrain in the world’s region folder, with additional region files for entities, points of interest, and other dimensions.

  • Where can I find my region files?

For Java Edition saves, look inside .minecraft/saves/<world>/region. Server worlds usually have the same folder structure. Nether files are commonly under DIM-1/region, End files under DIM1/region, and modded dimensions under dimensions.

  • Can I open an entire world folder?

Yes. Dropping the whole folder lets the workbench preserve its structure and offer dimension, terrain, entity, POI, level.dat, and player-location controls where those files are available.

  • Can this repair corrupted chunks?

The workbench can identify unreadable or damaged chunk entries and remove them from a region. Minecraft may regenerate a removed terrain chunk when it is visited again, but anything previously built or stored there will be lost. Regeneration can also differ after changing Minecraft versions, mods, or world-generation settings.

  • What happens when I remove a chunk?

The chunk is removed from the downloaded region file. When Minecraft next loads that location, it will usually generate a replacement using the current seed and world generator. Always keep the original region file as a backup.

  • Does it support modded worlds?

Yes. Modded NBT and block identifiers are preserved and editable. The 3D preview can render supported mod block packs; unsupported blocks may have a limited visual preview while remaining available in the NBT editor.

  • Does it support Bedrock Edition?

Not yet. This tool is for Java Edition Anvil .mca region files. Bedrock Edition uses a different LevelDB-based world format.

  • Are my world files uploaded or stored?

No. Reading, visualisation, editing, and file generation happen locally in your browser.

  • Can editing a region break my world?

Yes. Invalid NBT or removing the wrong chunk can destroy terrain, inventories, machines, entities, or builds. Stop the server first, back up the entire world, and test the edited copy before relying on it.

  • Which Minecraft versions are supported?

The Anvil .mca container is supported. Modern flattened chunks from Minecraft 1.13 onward receive the fullest terrain visualisation; older or unusual chunk formats may still be inspectable but can have limited previews.
