# Change the Death Penalty on a Valheim Server

Change how punishing death feels on your Valheim server by adjusting the Death Penalty setting. This guide shows where to find the option in your Nodecraft panel, what the setting is used for, and how to save the change for your world.

In this guide we are going to cover how you can change the death penalty level on your Valheim server. On Valheim there are a few different levels you can change the penalty to. These range from almost having no loss to playing in hardware you lose everything permanently.

## Changing the penalty level

1. Open your [Dashboard](https://app.nodecraft.com/dashboard).
2. Locate your Vamheim server and click on the **Panel **button.
3. Now that you are on your panel, click on the **Game Settings **tab.
4. Next navigate to the **Worlds** tab. (460)

5. Scroll down till you find the **Death Penalty **section under the **Customize **section and select your new desired penalty level.
6. Once selected, click on **Submit**.

7. Restart your server.

## Conclusion
