Copying an Existing Character to your ServerLast updated: 07/10/18
Seven Days to Die is still under active development and is receiving periodic updates. These updates add entirely new content and features. Because of this, If the game receives a major update It is recommended that you start with a fresh character created on a fresh map. The developers give the following warning:
Each new build (Stable or Experimental) requires that you start a new save. If you are playing an older save on a new build, you should expect to encounter problems/bugs. Starting with a15, it may be possible to continue from one stable build to the next, but you will not experience any new content. (You also may still get errors and bugs.)
If you attempt to use old saves with the newer versions of the game you should expect to have problems . Now that we're done with that, here's how you will transfer a single player character to a dedicated multiplayer game.
Find the Player Folder for your Local Game:
Save game files for Seven Days to Die are stored in the local user directory for your operating system. The defaults are listed below.
A fast way to find the local files on your computer, is to open the Steam launcher and right-click the game in the Steam library and choose "Properties". Then click the "Local files" tab and then click the "Browse Local Files". This will open a window showing the location of the Pixark game files on your computer.
Upload the Player Folder onto the Server:
On the server, open the
Open either the
Navezganefolder if you are using the pre-generated game world, or
Random Genfolder if you are using the randomly generated game world. inside that location will be a folder with the name of the game seed you used to create it.
Inside that folder will be several directories and files, open the directory called
Copy the player files into this directory. When the game is started, the player information will automatically load, and you will have your existing character with all their inventory, skills, and attributes.
