# How to Use a Password with Your Renown Server

Learn how to use a server password on your Renown server via the game.ini file and/or server control panel.

Renown supports adding a password to your server to ensure only trusted individuals can connect. This can be very useful for preventing unwanted players on the internet from joining.

## Set Server Password in Nodecraft Game Settings

1. **Login** to your Nodecraft Dashboard.
2. Click on **Panel** with the gear icon on your Renown server.
3. Locate **Game Settings** in the left menu of your Nodecraft server control panel.
4. In the Basic tab of the **Game Settings** you can edit your **Server Password** in the selected field below.

5. Select **Submit **to Save your changes.
6. **Start **your Renown server.

## Change the Server Password in the Config File

1. Navigate to your** Server Files** in the Nodecraft server control panel.
2. Select the `ggame.ini`** **file in `/Renown_Combat/Saved/Config/LinuxServer`.
3. Select **Edit**.
4. Locate** **`ServerPassword`** **and input your desired Server Password.

5. Select **Save**.
6. **Start **your Voyagers of Nera game server.
