# How to Add a Steam Web API Key to Your RedM Server

Set up a Steam Web API key for your RedM server to enable authentication.

Adding a Steam Web API key to your RedM server enhances player authentication and integration with Steam accounts. This improves access control by allowing the server to retrieve user information, such as Steam IDs, making it easier to manage whitelists, kicks, bans, and other permissions.

## Create a Steam Web API Key

**Note: Be sure that your RedM server is fully stopped before making any configuration changes or setting updates!**

1. Log in to your **Nodecraft Control Panel**.
2. Navigate to the **Game Settings** tab.
3. Click on the **Basic** tab.
4. Scroll down until you locate the **Steam Web API Key** field.

5. Click on **Create Steam Web API Key**.
6. Follow the instructions to generate your API Key.
7. **Copy** the generated Steam Web API Key as you'll need it soon!

## Add the Steam Web API Key to Your RedM Server

1. Navigate back to the **Basic** tab in the control panel and find the **Steam Web API Key** field again.
2. Paste the copied **API Key **into the provided field.
3. Click **Submit** to save your changes.
4. **Start **your server.
