# How to Become an Admin of Your Necesse Server

Learn how to set yourself as the owner, and give others admin and moderator permissions on your Necesse server.

Giving yourself Admin powers is a simple process on Necesse dedicated servers, and this article will show you how!

## Granting Admin Permissions

Permission Groups in Necesse help ensure your server's safety, security, and a more enjoyable gameplay experience. Owners, Admins, and Moderators each have different permissions. Review these permissions and follow the steps below to make sure you and trusted individuals have the in-game authority to keep your server running smoothly.

| Permissions Group | Permissions |
| --- | --- |
| User | No additional permissions. |
| Moderator | Can kick players. |
| Admin | Can kick or ban players, and control a lot of world settings. |
| Owner | Can set player permissions and perform any commands possible on the server. |

1. **Log in **to your Nodecraft [Dashboard](https://app.nodecraft.com/dashboard)
2. Click on **Panel **with the gear icon located in the bottom right of your Necesse server.
3. Go to your **Console **tab on the left-hand side of the control panel.
4. **Turn your server online** with the start button in the top left.
5. Ensure whoever you want to provide permissions to is **currently online in the Necesse game server**.
6. In the **Console**, type `/permissions set [user name] [permissions group]` and press **enter**. For example: `/permissions set nodecraft2 owner`

7. Once you have permissions, you can execute this and other commands directly in the in-game chat by pressing Enter, then typing the command, which always starts with `/`.
