# Updating Your Minecraft MOTD

Updating your Minecraft MOTD

The** MOTD** on a Minecraft server is a public, short message that appears in the Minecraft client when users are attempting to join the server. It's generally a good idea that this includes your server's name, so users are sure they are connecting to the right location.

### Updating the MOTD

The quickest way to update your server's MOTD is via the Nodecraft Pro Panel. From within the the panel, access the **Game Settings** section, and then head to the** Basic Settings **tab. On this tab, you will find a textbox noted as **"MOTD"**, which will allow you to enter and customize the MOTD to your liking.

The applicable setting within this file is simply `motd`.
