# How to Enable & Disable The Nether on Your Minecraft Server

Learn how to turn The Nether dimension on or off for your Minecraft server using just a few quick settings.

This guide will walk you through the process enabling or disabling The Nether on your server. This process applies to both vanilla or plugin based servers.

**Note: Be sure that your Minecraft server is fully shut down before proceeding! **

## Using the Control Panel

1. Open your [Nodecraft Dashboard](https://app.nodecraft.com/dashboard)
2. Click on **Panel**.

  **Note: If you are on a Lite server you may need to wake it first before the panel option is available.**
3. Locate the **Game Settings** section located on your sidebar.
4. Once on the Game Settings page, click on the **Gamemode** tab.
5. Near the bottom of the page you will see the **Allow Nether** option to toggle The Nether on or off.
6. Once your change has been made click the **Submit** button.

## Using the server.properties File

1. Open your [Nodecraft Dashboard](https://app.nodecraft.com/dashboard)
2. Click on **Panel**.

  **Note: If you are on a Lite server you may need to wake it first before the panel option is available.**
3. Once on your panel, locate the **Server Files** section located on your sidebar.
4. Once on the Server Files page, look in the larger box on the right-hand side of your screen and locate the **server.properties** file. Click on the file to select it then click **Edit** in the upper left corner of the server file section.
5. Once the file is open in the editor, find the line “**allow-nether=true**”. If you want to disable the nether, change “true” to “false”. Likewise to enable it again change “false” to “true”
6. Click the green **Save Changes** button near the upper right side of your screen.

Once you have completed changes you can start your server. You have now Enabled/DIsabled The Nether on your server.
