# How to Disable or Enable NPC Spawning

Learn how to disable or enable NPC spawning on your Hytale server!

We are going to go over the process of disabling or enabling NPC spawning on your Hytale server. Disabling NPCs can be useful for optimizing the server as less RAM would be used by the additional entities or if you simply want a survival experience but don’t care for NPCs.

## Changing the day and/or night cycle

1. Open your [Dashboard](https://app.nodecraft.com/dashboard).
2. Locate your Hytale server and click on the **Panel **button.
3. Once on your panel, **Stop** the server using the button in the upper left corner of the panel before proceeding.
4. Once the server is stopped, click on **Game Settings** on the left-hand sidebar of the panel.
5. Once on the settings page you will want to click on the **world **tab.

6. On the world tab you will see your worlds. Find the **Current World**, Hover over it and select **settings. **

7. Once on the settings page for the world, about half down the page you will see **Simulation Settings.**
8. To disable NPC spawning toggle the **NPC Spawning **off, or back up to enable NPC Spawning.

9. Once set, click **Save Changes** at the bottom of the page then start your server.
