# How to Install and Use LuckPerms on your Hytale Server

Learn how to install and how to set up Luckperms for a Hytale server! 

Permissions determine what players are allowed to do on a Hytale server. LuckPerms is a powerful permissions system that lets server owners create roles, assign permissions, and manage access in a clear and structured way. Installing and using LuckPerms helps keep your server organized while giving you precise control over player actions.

## Installing LuckPerms from the Control Panel

This method lets you install LuckPerms directly through your server’s control panel. It is the quickest option and doesn’t require uploading any files manually.

1. Navigate to your Nodecraft Dashboard.
2. Click the **Panel** button for your Hytale server.
3. Locate and click **Mods** in the menu on the left side.
4. Click the **Install from CurseForge** button.

5. Enter **LuckPerms** in the search box and click Install.

6. LuckPerms will be automatically installed and loaded on your server.
7. **Restart **your server to finish loading LuckPerms.

## Installing LuckPerms Manually

Manual installation is useful if you prefer full control over your server files or need to upload a specific version of LuckPerms. This method involves adding the mod files directly to your server.

1. Begin by downloading LuckPerms here: [https://www.curseforge.com/hytale/mods/luckperms/files/all?page=1&pageSize=20&showAlphaFiles=hide](https://www.curseforge.com/hytale/mods/luckperms/files/all?page=1&pageSize=20&showAlphaFiles=hide)
2. Once you’ve got it downloaded, navigate to your Nodecraft Dashboard.
3. Click the **Panel** button for your Hytale server.
4. Locate and click **Mods **in the menu on the left side.
5. Click the **Upload Mods** button.

6. Either drag the LuckPerms file from your computer into the blue box, or click the **Choose Files** button and select the file that way.
7. Once the file is uploaded, click **Close**.
8. **Restart **your server to finish loading LuckPerms.

## Using LuckPerms

LuckPerms is primarily managed through its web editor. After running a command, you are given a secure link where you can create groups, assign permissions, and apply changes through a browser-based interface instead of editing everything in-game.

1. Navigate to your Nodecraft Dashboard.
2. Click the **Panel** button for your Hytale server.
3. Locate and click **Console **in the menu on the left side.
4. Ensure that LuckPerms is loaded on your server.

5. Run the following command: /lp editorThis will give you a link to open the web editor for LuckPerms.

6. When you open the editor for the first time, you’ll be prompted to enter a command in your server console. Copy it, return to your server console, and enter it.

7. Once connected, return to the editor and set up your permissions as desired.

## Create a LuckPerms Admin Group

Creating an admin group helps separate full server access from regular players. This allows you to safely grant elevated permissions without assigning them to individual users.

1. Navigate to your Nodecraft Dashboard.
2. Click the **Panel** button for your Hytale server.
3. Locate and click **Console **in the menu on the left side.
4. Run the following command: /lp editorThis will give you a link to open the web editor for LuckPerms.

5. On the left side, click the + next to **Groups**.

6. For the **Group Name**, enter “admin”.

7. Enter any other information you would like, then click **Add group**.

  | Group name | The internal name of the group |
  | Display name | The external name of the group |
  | Parent | Group this one inherits from |
  | Weight | The priority level compared to other groups |
  | Prefix/Suffix | Tag before or after a player’s name |
8. In the **Add Permissions **box at the bottom, enter hytale.\*, then hit **enter **on your keyboard.

9. Click the **Add** button on the right.

10. Click **Apply** in the top right.

11. You can now set players to this group through the **Users** tab on the left. This will list all players that have connected to your server.

## Common LuckPerms Commands

LuckPerms uses commands to manage groups, permissions, and users. This section shares commonly used commands that help with everyday permission management.
