# How to Set a Password on Your Abiotic Factor Server

Learn how to add a Server Password to your Abiotic Factor dedicated server.

Setting a password for your Abiotic Factor server is a simple but essential step if you want to control who joins your game. **Note: Be sure that your Abiotic Factor server is fully stopped before making any configuration changes or setting updates!**

## Using the Control Panel

1. Navigate to your Abiotic Factor server's **dashboard**.
2. Locate and click the **Game Settings** option on the left-hand side of your dashboard.

4. Make the change as desired.
5. Click the **Submit** button to save your changes.
6. **Start** your server.

## Editing Launch Parameters

If you don't have access to Nodecraft's Control Panel, and/or possibly self-hosting your server, you'll need to edit your server's Launch Parameters, also known as the Commandline.

Edit or Add:

`-ServerPassword=` providing your desired password after the equals sign.
