The Spoxel team have just released patch version 0.6.9.1 which revamps the spell system and fixes some bugs. See the full changelog below.

  • Bug: Fixed an issue where the power network attempted to setup a removed node

  • Added better character loading support so a bad character file will still load your other characters
  • Character rotation in create character screen is smoother now
  • The world name now only allows numbers and letters
  • Reversed create world and back button positions
  • Bug: Fixed a text scaling problem in the quest panel
  • You now don't take fall damage when you fall into liquid
  • Added a breath system so you can no longer breath underwater
  • Liquid now decreases the effect
  • Water now can flow through platforms
  • Bug: Fixed an issue with water flow
  • Reworked water sim to only update cells once during the simulation
  • Reworked the loading process which is in general faster now
  • The "map open" key no longer will close the map or menu to prevent accidental closure (goodbye advanced crafted armor I spent hours on due to an accidental keypress)
  • Removed a gui based memory leak in a support library
  • The Spell system has been completely changed!
  • Spell research has been removed. You now find new runes in the world as well as receive them as quest rewards.
  • The spell research table has been changed to the spell crafting table
  • The spell crafting table is now the spell design table
  • Spell mutator damage has been removed
  • Spell effect rune Fire Damage, Frost Damage, Arcane Damage, and Lightning damage have been combined into just a damage rune. You can now set the damage (num) on this rune as well as set the type of mage does.
  • Spell effect runes frozen, flow, stun, and disarm have been combined into apply debuff rune
  • Spell effect runes Haste, Invisibility, and slowfall have been combined into apply buff rune
  • Temporarily disabled the 4k gui scaling due to gui framework issues
  • Added memory checks to the profiler screen
  • The penetration rune now has 3 settings: Mobs, Terrain, Both
  • The AoE rune has been modified to be "instant aoe effects" which will instantly apply any children effects in the given area. You can now also set the shape: Circle, Square, Wall and floor.
  • The Location rune has been modified to "persistent aoe effects" which will apply any children effects every tick for so many seconds. You can define the area in the same way as instant aoe.
  • The projectile rune has been reconfigured so you can now set the start location as well as it's travel direction
  • The strike rune has been removed since it's functionality has been moved into instant aoe and persistent aoe
  • The starfall rune has been removed since it's functionality can be replicated with a normal projectile rune
  • Bug: Fixed an issue with setting hotkeys that caused them to show up as unknown
  • Improved spell "beam" performance
  • Added new mutator "Change Target" which allows you to mutate what the spell shape tries to target (IE enemies/ friendly / items etc)
  • Bug: Spell projectiles will no longer target items by default
  • Bug: Fixed an error with hotbar swapping in inventory screens with text input
  • Reworked spell tutorial to use the new system
  • Bug: Fixed text position in tutorial for crafting shark sword components
  • Spells found in the world will now unlock per character so you can see how they are built
  • Bug: Fixed a exception due to quest unlocks
  • Added new quests under the spell tab for new spell system
  • Bug: Fixed a tooltip issue with enchanted bone fragments
  • Bug: Fixed an issue with quest rendering
